FSU Women Picked Ninth In Pre-Season Golf Poll
The Fairmont State women's golf team was picked to finish ninth in the Mountain East Conference Preseason women's golf poll, as announced by the league on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons are under second-year head coach Sarah Yost and bring in a four-member recruiting class to join returners MacKenzie Cox (junior) and Ashley Patton (senior).
The University of Charleston has been picked by a vote of the league's coaches to repeat as MEC Women's Golf champion. The Golden Eagles finished first in the poll with 63 points and seven first-place votes. UC won its first title in the sport last fall by 31 shots at The Resort at Glade Springs.
Notre Dame was second in the poll with 58 points and had one first-place vote. Wheeling Jesuit was picked third with 49 points, ahead of West Virginia Wesleyan (42), UVa-Wise (35), Concord (26), Urbana (19), West Liberty (17) and Fairmont State (15).
